Welcome

The Winter Sunshine Conference

On behalf of the Organising Committee we invite you to take part in the Twelfth Biennial Conference of the Australian and New Zealand Society of the History of Medicine: ‘Public Health; Private Healers.’ This will be held from the 12–15 July, 2011, at the St Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland, hosted by the School of History, Philosophy, Religion & Classics.

Papers on any topic in the history of medicine will be welcomed, but there will be a particular emphasis on science, technology and medicine, colonial and post-colonial medicine, and health and disease in a globalised world.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is 1 April 2011.

Follow the links from this site to find information on the University of Queensland, with its beautiful St Lucia campus in a bend of the Brisbane River. Most of the Colleges on campus provide accommodation, and they are located in an arc around the University, following the river. Accommodation is also available in the City of Brisbane. Hotels (and restaurants, galleries, museums, theatres and shops) in the vibrant South Bank precinct are particularly easily reached from the University, whether by bus, using the dedicated bus lanes and bridge, or down the river by Citycat.

We look forward to seeing you in Brisbane!
